| Dr. Andriy Nahachewsky, Director Dr. Andriy Nahachewsky is an associate professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta. He holds the Huculak Chair of Ukrainian Culture and Ethnography and is the director of the newly founded Canadian Centre for Ukrainian Culture and Ethnography. His research expertise includes Ukrainian dance, Ukrainian-Canadian identity, Ukrainian material culture, and fieldwork methodology. Dr. Nahachewsky's fieldwork experience includes projects across Canada, the United States, Ukraine and seven other countries. He is the author or co-author of over 40 articles and research reports and has presented at more than 60 conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Nahachewsky has been an active volunteer in Ukrainian communities in Saskatoon, Toronto, and Edmonton, with a keen interest in dance as well as in local museums and libraries. He is curator of the Ukrainian Folklore Archives at the University of Alberta, and is on the board of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada (Alberta Branch). Dr. Andriy Nahachewsky has served as secretary on the board of UCAMA for 6 years and as vice-president for one year. |
