| Khrystyna Kohut, President Khrystyna Kohut is a graduate of the University of Alberta in Slavic Languages. Community work has included educational work with the Red Cross in Thunder Bay, where she sat on the second languages committee of the Thunder Bay School Board and was instrumental in setting up Ukrainian language courses in high school. In Edmonton Kohut has been involved with the Ukrainian English bi-lingual program, both as a teacher's aid and in the parent association. Kohut, one of the original Shumka dancers, has taught dance and been a choir leader with the Youth Unity Association (SUM). She has also been a troop and camp leader for the Ukrainian Youth Association Plast. Kohut is a past president of the Ukrainian Professional and Business Association of Edmonton. She is employed as financial officer of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta. Kohut, the daughter of UCAMA founders Hryhory and Stefania Yopyk, has sat on the board of UCAMA since 1992. |
